The older neighborhoods on the east hill are full of well-built mid-century homes with kitchens that were generous by 1955 standards and feel cramped now — closed off from the dining room, short on counter, no island. Out toward Rib Mountain and Weston the houses are newer and larger, and the problem flips: plenty of square footage, but builder-grade cabinetry that doesn't match the rest of the finish.
